In what other way can an outer shell make a difference on your trek, other than via top-quality waterproofness and breathability?Waterproofness and breathablility are both must-have qualities of standard outer shells, but to enhance protection and comfort, EVERBREATH® aims to break away from bulky, constricting shells to achieve ease of movement.

In the outdoor community, it's generally accepted that the waterproof pressure required for climbing in the rain is 10,000 mm or more in situations where extra pressure may be simultaneously applied from movement. With a rating of 20,000mm, EVERBREATH® is not only designed to withstand twice the required amount of pressure, but also to maintain its functionality for a long time.
Continuous Breathability
Our Finetrack® Outer shell prioritizes the user experience by ensuring exceptional moisture permeability in various weather conditions, including rain and snow. We assess moisture permeability using the JIS L 1099 A-1 method, which closely simulates real-world wear. Achieving a moisture permeability value of 10,000g/m2/24hr through the A-1 method represents top performance. Unlike the commonly used JIS L1099 B-1 method, which can yield higher values but may result in stuffy fabrics during actual use, we employ the A-1 method to accurately measure the moisture permeability value of EVERBREATH® in real-world conditions. EVERBREATH® demonstrates a breathability of 10,000g/m2/24hr using the A-1 method.
Powerful water repellent treatment on both sides
EVERBREATH® has a strong water repellent finish, not only on the front side of the fabric, but also on the reverse side. The water repellency on the reverse side is a specification unique to Finetrack®.Even in situations where the underside of the shell gets wet from perspiration moisture and vapor from the interior layers during exertion, from rain finding its way in from outside, or both, the water repellency of the lining allows breathability to continue while preventing the formation of a moisture film that would reduce functionality in typical fabrics.
Polycarbonate-based polyurethane that achieves high-performance flex, stretch, and durability
Finetrack® developed the innovative EVERBREATH® material, made primarily from polycarbonate-based polyurethanes, as a waterproof yet moisture permeable, porous membrane .
EVERBREATH® boasts an ideal balance of functions
The main materials commonly used for waterproof breathable membranes include polyurethane-based (PU) porous and non-porous membranes and fluoropolymer (ePTFE)-based porous membranes. Polyurethane-based membranes are stretchable and moisture permeable, but are vulnerable to degradation over time due to hydrolysis. Fluoropolymer (ePTFE)-based materials are made by laminating thin films of fluoropolymer (typified by Teflon), and have high moisture permeability but poor stretchability and a tendency to feel tight during wear. That's why Finetrack® developed its high-performance EVERBREATH® material using polycarbonate polyethylene terephthalate, to achieve that sought-after balance of water resistance, breathability, durability, and comfort, without any feeling of tightness or constriction.
